BIOPLUS-INTERPHEX KOREA 2026 to Showcase Global Biotech Innovation, with Canada Named Country of Honor

Supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, this year’s event will bring together more than 300 companies from around the world.

Canada has been named the Country of Honor for BIX 2026 and will participate with a delegation of approximately 30 biotechnology and healthcare companies. The event will also feature a live demonstration of brain-computer interface (BCI) technology, alongside sessions exploring key technologies and emerging market trends across the bioindustry, including the growing field of ‘Food as Medicine’.

As this year’s Country of Honor, Canada will participate across BIX’s major programmes, including the exhibition, conference and Open Stage sessions. The Canada Pavilion, located at The Platz at COEX, will showcase technologies and businesses from leading Canadian biotechnology and healthcare companies.

A Featured Session with Dion M. Kelly, Co-founder and CEO of Canadian BCI company Possibility Neurotechnologies, will take place at The Platz on October 30, the final day of the event. Kelly will deliver a presentation titled “The Future of Accessible Human-Technology Interaction: Bringing Brain-Computer Interfaces into Everyday Life”, followed by a live demonstration of the company’s BCI technology.

BCI technology analyses signals generated by the brain and connects them with computers or external devices. While applications have historically focused on healthcare and rehabilitation, the technology is increasingly being explored for interaction between humans and digital devices. The session, titled “Experience BCI Today: Live Demonstration of Brain-Computer Interface Technology,” will provide an introduction to the current state of BCI technology and its real-world applications.

The convergence of biotechnology and the food industry will also be a major focus at BIX 2026. The session “Food as Medicine – Unlocking the Next Frontier of Preventive Health through Biotechnology,” organised by the Bio Future Food Industry Council (BFFIC) of the Korea Biotechnology Industry Organization (KoreaBIO), will explore how biotechnology is enabling a prevention-focused nutrition industry and creating new business opportunities.

The session will examine potential collaboration between the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and food industries, as well as the R&D, regulatory frameworks and investment ecosystems required to develop scientifically validated functional foods.

This year’s conference will focus not only on technological innovation, but also on commercialisation and changing market dynamics. Sessions will address key issues facing biotech companies throughout the R&D and growth journey, from new approaches to drug development to M&A strategies and decision-making at global pharmaceutical companies.

Keynote sessions will feature Sally Temple, Co-founder and Scientific Director of the Neural Stem Cell Institute (NSCI) and a leading expert in stem cell and neurological disease research, and Stuart Cable, Global Head of Mergers & Acquisitions and Vice Chair at international law firm Goodwin.

On the first day of the conference, Temple will present “Human Stem Cells: Transforming the Fight Against Nervous System Diseases.” On the second day, Cable will deliver “When Big Pharma Comes Knocking.”

The exhibition will feature major domestic and international biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, including Samsung Bioepis, Sartorius, Merck and Thermo Fisher Scientific. In total, BIX 2026 will comprise 600 exhibition booths and 30 conference sessions featuring more than 90 speakers.

Through BIX’s dedicated business partnering programme, participating companies will also have the opportunity to explore new collaborations, partnerships and business opportunities.

BIX 2026 is currently accepting second-round early-bird registrations throughout September. Those who register during this period can purchase an all-access pass at a 30% discount on the regular price.
