FairJourney Bio Expands End-to-End Antibody Discovery Through New AbTherx Partnership

FairJourney Bio has announced a strategic partnership with AbTherx to bring transgenic mouse-based antibody discovery capabilities in-house, creating a fully integrated antibody discovery workflow designed to accelerate therapeutic development.

Announced during the BIO International Convention 2026 in San Diego, the collaboration gives FairJourney Bio access to AbTherx's Atlas™ Full Human Diversity (FHD) and Common Light Chain (cLC) mouse technologies. By incorporating these platforms into its existing antibody discovery services, FairJourney Bio can now support programmes from immunisation through to developability-assessed lead candidates within a single, continuous workflow.


The move is intended to reduce the complexity often associated with antibody discovery, where programmes frequently transition between multiple service providers. By consolidating the process under one organisation, FairJourney Bio aims to shorten development timelines, minimise project handovers and improve the quality of candidates entering preclinical development.


The integrated workflow combines the Atlas™ transgenic mouse technologies with FairJourney Bio's proprietary B-Cell Navigator platform, enabling single B-cell screening, antibody optimisation, developability assessment and cell-line development to be managed by one scientific team across the company's facilities in Porto, Cambridge and San Diego.

The Atlas™ platform builds on technology developed by the team behind the HuMAb Mouse®, which has contributed to the development of 13 marketed antibody therapeutics.


According to AbTherx, its patent-pending Full Human Diversity mice have been engineered to generate fully human antibodies representing more than 99% of the expressed human antibody repertoire, while the Common Light Chain technology supports the development of native-structure bi- and multi-specific antibodies with improved manufacturability.


Within FairJourney Bio's discovery platform, antibody diversity generated by the Atlas™ mice is carried through to developability screening, allowing researchers to identify candidates that combine strong binding characteristics with favourable manufacturing properties from the earliest stages of discovery.


Commenting on the partnership, Dr Werner Lanthaler, Chief Executive Officer of FairJourney Bio, said the investment reflects the company's strategy of providing an uninterrupted discovery pathway.

The announcement also reflects FairJourney Bio's continued investment in its North American operations. Alongside expanding its presence in San Diego, the company has recently opened a dedicated cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) facility, further strengthening its capabilities across structural biology and antibody discovery.


As demand for fully integrated drug discovery services continues to grow, partnerships such as this highlight an increasing industry focus on reducing development timelines while improving the quality and developability of therapeutic antibody candidates.
